First 5K and Spring Break!

It is officially Spring Break! Woo hoo! It couldn't have come fast enough... I am in need of a week off!

And today I celebrated by "running" my first 5k. Now I will be the first to admit that I nowhere near ran the whole thing. I just alternated walking/jogging as I felt like it. And then of course I pushed at the very end and ran the last stretch. It was A LOT of fun and was for such a great cause. I will definitely be doing more of these in the future, and I encourage everyone else to try doing one as well. It really is a great experience!

The shirt.

During the memorial ceremony, the children let purple balloons go in honor of Amanda Price.

Molly Addison let a special white dove balloon go to her mother.

Purple was Amanda's favorite color.

Before. I was SO cold.

...and after!

Our bibs with result stickers...

And for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make this picture rotate, but you can see that "UM- Dept of Communicative Disorders" was a sponsor for the race.  It was such an honor to run for a fellow Ole Miss speech grad.

My heart continues to break for the Price family. Even though I never knew Mrs. Amanda, I am so indescribably touched by what happened back in December. Everything I have heard my professors, and her friends and family say about her is such an inspiration to me. She was the kind of person I aspire to be... as a woman, as a wife, as a mother, and as a speech-language pathologist.

It was such an honor to run for her today.
