NOLA!

So Evan and I (okay well it was actually probably more me...) decided that we needed one last "hoorah" before summer ends, and we are forced to once again be students. Our friends Zachary and Britt happened to be planning a trip to New Orleans, so we decided to join them! It was a great, quick trip. As we all know by now, I am NO photographer. I don't even own a camera. BUT... just in case you're interested, here is a narration of our trip with the pictures I took.

We arrived in  NOLA about 4:00 PM on Thursday. We checked into this wonderful B&B called the Lafitte Guest House. It's very "haunted" but fortunately we had no paranormal encounters while we were there.

This was the door to our room. It was so neat! The LGH was a private mansion built in 1849. All of the furnishings were from that time period.
And our french doors opened out to this semi-private courtyard.
For dinner that night we went to Court of the Two Sisters. It was delicious!
And yes, that IS our limo.... jk!
After dinner we headed to none other than Cafe du Monde! Nothing like real beignets!

The next day we slept in (because it's vacation!) and then walked through the French Quarter and Jackson Square. We stopped at St. Louis Cathedral which is beautiful. The inside was amazing, but I didn't take any pictures. :-(

(this one was actually taken later that night from the Riverwalk)

We had lunch at Mother's on Friday. Great New Orleans food! I definitely recommend this restaurant!

The line was all of the way out of the restaurant.

Next we all went to the aquarium. Britt and Evan really enjoyed this!

Evan loves penguins!

Penguins!

They also had a bird exhibit. You could feed and hold the birds.

(I promise I am wearing clothes!)

After the aquarium we stopped for pralines. Quintessential New Orleans candy... and they were SO good.

For dinner we went to NOLA. This is one of Emeril Lagasse's restaurants, and it was SO good. We will definitely go back here if/when we return to New Orleans.

After dinner we returned to our B&B and there was a wedding in our courtyard! We went to the 2nd floor balcony and watched. It was such a sweet, intimate wedding.
The next day was Saturday and the day we were leaving. We were originally going to leave after check-out at 11:00, but leave it to New Orleans to have something crazy going on. The streets were blocked off and there were people in red dresses everywhere. We were told we wouldn't be able to leave until around 1:00 so we got to spend a few extra hours in NOLA.
There were THOUSANDS of people in red dresses.
First we headed across the street to Community Coffee House. I drink Community Coffee all of the time, but the company is based in NOLA, so I decided to grab some.

Then we walked and explored the city.

I came across this restaurant and just had to take a picture. Mr. B is our new Boston Terrier that we love so so much!

We stopped for a last minute lunch at The Camellia Grill. It was a neat little cafe that was reminiscent of  New Orleans in the 1950's.

We sat at the counters and had a great last NOLA meal. It really was a great trip, and I am so glad we got to go. It's hard to do a lot of traveling at this point in life, but I am so thankful for the trips that I do get to take... and I am even more thankful for the wonderful boy I get to experience these new places with. :-)
