March!

I can't believe it is already March. :-) So excited that this "semester" is flying by. I am enjoying my externship at NMMC, but I am finding that my passion really lies in the pediatric population. I am leaning toward finding a position in the schools, but I am not limiting myself. There are many options to be explored! However, I am 99.9% sure that I will be a Shelby county resident after graduation, and that is exciting. I have spent many of the past weekends in Memphis, and it is starting to feel like "home." I still LOVE my family in Pontotoc, and it will be hard to move, but I feel like it's the right decision for me and my future (with Evan).

This past weekend we ventured out of Memphis and went to our favorite town- Franklin, TN. It really is the neatest town. It reminds me a lot of Oxford, but is much nicer in my opinion.

We had brunch at a place called 55 South and it was delicious!

After brunch we walked around town and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
Then we stopped and got a cupcake before we went home. The cupcake was good, but it certainly wasn't a Muddy's cupcake.

This cupcake was called The Bad Kisser.

He loves when I take his picture...

Franklin is about 30 minutes south of Nashville so we decided to drive into the city. I did some shopping at the J Crew outlet and then we went to The Cheesecake Factory.

When we got to The Cheesecake Factory there was a 2 and a half hour wait. Since neither of us really cared about the entrees, we decided just to get cheesecake to-go.  We waited for about 5 minutes, got our cheesecake and then ate it in the food court area. Evan referred to it as "beating the system." Haha. We walked around a little more, and then headed "home" to Memphis.

(and once we got to the food court we decided we needed a pretzel too!)

This was our one day "Spring Break" trip since hospitals don't observe Spring Break. (Another reason to go the school route!)

Sunday we went to brunch again (brunch is my favorite meal, can you tell?). We went to a place called Local in Midtown. This is the artsy district of Memphis. The food was incredible! I told Evan the meal I had ranked up there with the top 5 I have ever eaten.

(sorry it's sideways, I'm too tired to go in and fix it. Haha)

Sunday night I made the drive back to Pontotoc. It gets harder and harder to leave every time, and I'm usually crying by the time I leave Evan's neighborhood. I know our separation is temporary, and I LOVE my Pontotoc family, but I am definitely leaving a piece of my heart in Memphis when I make the drive south.

Only 7 more weeks at NMMC!

  1. I love the "beating the system"! Makes a lot of sense!
Please take me on one of your outings. I want to experience cool things, too!
