Today was the first day of my practicum at Region Rehab. I awoke this morning (way too early) to the sounds of heavy rain and thunder. I wondered if this was some metaphoric foreshadowing of how my day was going to go. It rained HARD on my whole drive Tupelo, and I'll admit I was a tiny bit nervous about my first day.
But thankfully...
The storms cleared and I had the BEST day. I loved Regional Rehab. My supervisor is wonderful and I loved working with her. Her caseload is comprised of children all age 3 or younger. In the SLP world that's called early intervention or EI. I spent my day with 3 three year olds, and it was the most fun I have ever had doing therapy. I have always thought that I would love doing early intervention, and I was right. My passion truly is for the little ones.
As soon as I got in my car I sent my brother this text: (I'm the blue)
I think back to my first day at the nursing home and how mediocre it was... I left Regional Rehab with a completely different feeling. I am SO excited about my summer at Regional Rehab. I can't wait to really start working with these children.

Aww great! I'm so glad you finally found your perfect place. I've been in those places where what you thought was so right comes back flat, and it does feel so good to get over that feeling of doubt! Hope you have a great time working there!
ReplyDeleteYay for you! So happy that you've found your "spot." You'll be WONDERFUL with little kiddos!!
