I finished out my summer break by going to Rendevous in Memphis. It was a spur of the moment trip with the family.

| Love my twin! |
And then the next day I ended up in Hoover, Alabama for the SEC championship game. Yet another spur of the moment trip. It was SO HOT. After sitting in the blaring sun for hours, we were dripping with sweat and not the most attractive people. (Excuse my trashy rolled-up sleeves- It was HOT.)

| And please excuse my mother's "free at the gas station" sunglasses. I love you, mom, but seriously... you need new sunglasses. |
School started this Wednesday. Same professors, same classmates, same room... just a different class.
This summer I am taking Language Development and Disorders in the School-Age Population, Speech Science, and Counseling Theory and Practice. I am excited that these classes will be so short. Only 2 months! At this point every class and every clinic placement is just one more thing I have to do before I can graduate. I am just ready to be DONE. As soon as this semester is over, I am only TWO away from being done forever.
I am also the teaching assistant for our two staff audiologists/ audiology professors, Dr. Williams and Dr. Messersmith. I met with them this week to solidify my responsibilities. I am basically doing everything they don't want to do... taking roll, grading tests, preparing their lectures, etc... It's a lot of work to balance on top of classes and clinic, but it's definitely worth the paycheck!
Next week starts my lovely commute to Tupelo three days a week. I am not looking forward to waking up at 6 AM so I can leave Oxford by 6:30 and drive an hour and a half to Regional Rehab. I hope this placement is worth the 3 hours I will spend on the road each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. I am excited about Regional Rehab though. I hope I get to see a lot and do a lot that I haven't done yet. The medical side of speech pathology is so interesting to me.
Just for fun, here is a break down of my daily schedule:
6:00- wake up and attempt to make myself look somewhat professional
6:30- leave Oxford and drive to Tupelo
8:00- arrive at Regional Rehab
see clients/ do therapy/kiss up to supervisor so that I can put her down as a reference on my resume
11:30- leave Regional Rehab and speed drive back to Oxford
1:00- arrive in Oxford just as class is beginning
3:30- class ends
3:45- go to Dr. Messersmith's class and call roll/ collect assignments/give quizzes
4:45- go home and go to bed
It is going to be a packed full summer semester! So much to do, but I am so blessed to have the opportunity.
That's all for now.
Amy
