Anniversary

As many of you know, Friday, February 4th, Evan and I celebrated our one year anniversary. Because our anniversary is so close to Valentine's Day, we decided that each one of us would pick one holiday to plan and the other person would take the other. I chose our anniversary.

Thursday afternoon Evan went to Memphis and stayed there until Friday afternoon. While he was gone, I decorated his apartment with a trail of hearts and a banner of number 1's that I cut out. I also left an invitation I made that was an invite to a special dinner I was preparing for the two of us. This was a great surprise for him.

I spent ALL day grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, and decorating my apartment for our dinner. I had so much fun. I love doing special things for him.

For dinner, I made a special recipe from Giada De Laurentiis. It was a delicious cheesy pasta dish that is now one of our favorites! I also made homemade sugar cookies cut out with heart shaped cookie cutters and decorated with frosting and Red Hots. Some cookies had number 1's on them.

To go with our dish I also decided to make crescent rolls. Easy right? Wrong. I totally burned them. When Evan arrived he walked in and said "What's burning?!" In my excitement I hadn't even noticed... We opened the oven. Smoke barreled out. I had accidentally put the crescent rolls on broil. Whoops... We spent ten minutes running vents and fans and opening doors and windows to try and get rid of the smoke.

It was all quite hilarious, and I am sure will be a memory we always share. "Remember that time you tried to cook for me for our anniversary and you almost burned down the apartment building with your crescent rolls?..."

We laughed all of the way to Wal-Mart to buy new bread.

Here are pictures from our anniversary night. Thanks to my wonderful parents and grandparents for all of their help. Your kindness and support means the world to Evan and me. The borrowed place settings and pots and pans were great!
