So why should spring break be any different? After my Florida trip to Give Kids the World with my friends fell through, I began thinking about how I would spend my week off from school. Sure I could have gone to the beach and spent my days tanning, but that just seems so... unproductive. Also, I am entirely too type A to do nothing, so I began looking.
My first thought was "Hello, Amy! Perfect time to squeeze in a resume builder! Intern!" So I googled. I found a clinic in Memphis called The ABA Place. They happened to be offering a Spring Break Day Camp for their clients with Autism. Perfect! Their website didn't say anything about needing interns, but I took it upon myself to send the director an email. ;-) I told her who I am and about my past interning experience. She said that they would "love love" to have me! And in the past, they "have even hired several of our interns!" ...just goes to show that having initiative is so important. Making things happen is the only way to get what you want out of life. Your life is what YOU make it. And now, I am SO excited to spend my spring break learning from these ABA therapists. I hope to learn a lot and make valuable contacts that could be an asset to my future.
So now, all I have to do is make it through a research paper on Kristin Chenoweth, a class presentation on Ukraine, and a midterm for my local politics class and I am set!
Spring Break, please hurry!
You should be a motivational speaker. Now let's find me something to do over Spring Break.
