This week is very much the week of ballet, and I am so excited! In addition to my regular classes at the Turner Center on Monday and Wednesday with Jan, I will be doing workshops and judging company tryouts for my old studio.Actually, I judged "company" tryouts in New Albany yesterday. For those of you that don't know, "company" is a select group of girls within the studio that have extra practices/rehearsals and do extra performances. Yesterday, I went to the New Albany School of Ballet and Dance Arts (www.newalbanyballetstudio.com) and judged a few girls who missed the original tryouts. It was great to be back in the studio I used to help teach at and see some familiar faces. I also enjoyed doing combinations for "warm up". I've missed teaching ballet so much.
Thursday, I am going back to New Albany to take a workshop with a wonderfully talented Russian dancer named Valery Lantratov. I am excited to learn from him. I am sure the workshop will be challenging. He also speaks NO English! This should be exciting...
Sunday, there is a Ballet Magnificat workshop in Tupelo. I am possibly going to be taking that workshop. I have taken it in the past and LOVED it. Ballet Mag is a unique experience with a very different style of dance. I really enjoy it. Hopefully, that will work out.
